Stop and Search in London: June 2020 to July 2021

Abstract

Stop and Search in London reports summarise how police in London are using their stop-and-search powers. An updated report is issued every three months. In the 12 months to June 2021, Police in London stopped and searched 275,119 people and vehicles. The number of searches has generally increased over the past two years. 66% of searches in that period were for drugs, with 75% of all searches resulting in no further action. Searches are heavily concentrated in some areas – half of all searches occurred in 10% of neighbourhoods.
